Independent Kansas coverage for fans who want the full story.

The smartest way to follow Kansas sports.

KUHearings is independent Kansas coverage for fans who want more than press conferences, recycled quotes, and safe takes.

I’m Mike Vernon — KU alum (Class of 2014), former national sports journalist, and lifelong Jayhawk. I built KUHearings because I couldn’t stand watching important stories go unreported, hard questions go unasked, and fans get fed spin instead of truth.

A good fanbase, is an informed fanbase.

Over 18,300 Jayhawk fans are already here. If you care about Kansas sports, join in.

What You’ll Get

Real scoops.
Not message board rumors. Not anonymous aggregation. Actual reporting.

Context that matters.
Behind-the-scenes dynamics. Donor politics. Coaching decisions. Recruiting stories. What’s actually happening — and why.

An independent voice.
I don’t rely on KU for access. That means I can tell you what traditional outlets can’t or won’t.

A smarter fan experience.
You’ll understand the program, the personalities, and the power structures — not just the box score.

Why KUHearings Exists

For years, fans were told KU football was “improving” while the program was collapsing.
Nobody was explaining how relationships were deteriorating. Nobody was digging into what was really happening behind the scenes.

So I did.

In a few weeks, Jeff Long and Les Miles left Kansas. And I haven’t stopped digging since.

Thousands of Jayhawk fans subscribing because they wanted something real. KUHearings was born out of frustration. And together we’ve made it a community..

About Me

I worked my way from the University Daily Kansan to the San Francisco Chronicle and Bleacher Report. I won a national sportswriting award as a student and built my career chasing stories that mattered.

Eventually I moved into tech, but I never stopped reporting.

KUHearings is my way of serving (and connecting with) the KU community — with independence, credibility, and zero fear of uncomfortable truths.

I believe an informed fanbase is a good fanbase.

And I believe Kansas deserves one.
