KU Hoops Schedule and Quick Thoughts

The Jayhawks’ path to a Big 12 title has become clear with the conference releasing its basketball schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

I laid out each team’s preseason ranking from analytics site BartTorvik.com next to the team name. For example, Kansas is projected as the No. 17 team right now — so I’d write it as Kansas (No. 17).

This isn’t a definitive ranking, but I just included it to give you some sense of where the teams stand.

Quick Thoughts:

• KU plays three Saturday-Monday turnaround games:

  • vs BYU —> @ Texas Tech

  • vs Utah —> vs Arizona

  • vs Cincinnati —> vs Houston

    • KU had three similar turnarounds last year as well. The BYU to Texas Tech turn will be tricky, along with two difficult opponents on the backend of the home-game swings (Arizona and Houston)

• Playing Houston and at Arizona back-to-back in late Feb should fall around when the conference is decided.

• I like the Jayhawks opening with a decent stretch of teams projected outside the top 50 nationally, though two are Big 12 road games. KU follows it with home games vs. Iowa State and Baylor, which you’d think sets them up decently well to start conference play.

• Lastly… Kansas State on Senior Night is gonna be a big one.
