KU Lands Johnny Furphy 🇦🇺

Kansas got its extra roster piece for this season.

The Jayhawks landed Australian Johnny Furphy, who will reclassify to the 2023 class. Kansas had been after Furphy since he broke out at the NBA Academy Games early July, but there had been worries that his family wouldn’t rush a decision.

KU’s staff conducted a Zoom meeting with the wing Monday afternoon and convinced them otherwise, according to a source.

The Jayhawks view Furphy as a tough, athletic wing. One source even compared the 6’9” wing to Christian Braun. I expect him to be in the rotation for KU this year.

The Jayhawks have been looking to add a shooter on the wing for this season, and the international prospect fits that mold. Furphy reportedly caught the attention of KU, Duke, North Carolina and other top programs throughout July.
