I’m Hearing the Jayhawks are getting ready to announce new football uniforms for the season — and they’re gonna look a lot different. The effort is part of a rebranding for a KU football program pushing into a new era.

This is what I’m Hearing:

• At their core, the new uniforms are a clean and simple design, evoking a more traditional college football jersey.

• I’ve Heard Lance Leipold has been genuinely involved with the process. The detail-oriented coach clearly cares about the look and feel of his program.

• One of the biggest changes will be a new, block letter jersey font. The font should look similar to last season’s baby-blue alternate jersey (pictured on the right below).

• Any kind of splash should come on the shoulders, with stripes running down the side.

• The primary uniforms will be standard KU colors. Again, these are supposed to be much more traditional than we’re used to seeing.

• The jerseys should look like the shoulders seen below on the left, with the font used on the right.

• If you like the baby blue jerseys, there’s a chance they’ll make another appearance this season as an alternate.

  • I’ve also heard a navy uniform could make an appearance.

• There’s a photo floating around from a store in Kansas selling the jerseys. While conceptually similar, I don’t think they’re the best representation of what we’re going to see on gamedays.

• One thing I haven’t been able to confirm is whether or not the team will go full-time Warhawk for the helmets. I’d Heard rumblings of that earlier, but I’m not sure if KU has made their decision.
