Iβm Hearingβ¦
Sources tell me Kohl Rosario increasingly likely to reclassify to 2025 and commit to Kansas to play this year.
The Jayhawks appear likely to land the 6β5β wing over Duke, UNC, Oregon, and Miami. Iβm Hearing an announcement could come in the next few days.
Hereβs why landing Rosario would be a big deal:
What to know about Kohl
π₯ The Late Riser: Rosario is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country, a classic late-blooming pickup for Bill Self. He recently jumped from No. 120 to No. 45 in 247Sportsβ rankings while On3 ranks him at No. 27.
ποΈ The Reclass: He was in the 2025 class but had moved back to 2026. This would be a return to his original year. Heβs 18, so heβd be the expected age for a freshman if he plays this year.
β‘ The Impact: While I donβt want to overhype anyone, Rosarioβs top three traits should translate quickly: three-point shooting, athleticism, and strength. Itβs a good combination (as long as he can guard somebody π).
Why he fits at KU
β Positional Need: All summer, the Jayhawks looked for a wing (and big) to help them this year. Rosario might not be a day one starter, but heβs gonna play.
3οΈβ£ Shooting ability: KU's roster has a lot of longer, athletic guards. Rosario gives KU's staff a different look β a true shooter who can also elevate.
π The Archetype: Bill Selfβs run with late-blooming wings is ridiculously good. Itβs not fair to compare him to KUβs NBA wings, but Self has been successful with a similar typeβ¦ and we should leave it at that.
π The Projection: Think immediate bench contributor with starter upside by 2026. Heβs a perfect developmental piece for Self's system.
The Bigger Picture
Kansas had two crucial holes to plug for this yearβs team: An offensive threat at wing and a Day 1 ready backup big.
The Jayhawks landed their wing. Heβll have freshmen growing pains and may need some time, but he has potential to make a difference this year and beyond.
The roster isnβt done just yet, but it just got a whole lot closer.
