Leipold Agrees to Extension with Kansas 👏👏👏

I’m HEARING Kansas and football coach Lance Leipold have agreed to terms on a new contract that will keep the coach in Lawrence for the foreseeable future.

To be 100% transparent: While I’ve Heard the two parties have at least reached an agreement in principle, I can’t say for sure if the contract has been signed. Either way, the terms of the deal appear set in place, making me confident enough to share this Hearing. The apparent agreement comes after Washington targeted Leipold in its head coaching search.

It appears Kansas has survived this year’s wild head coaching job cycle.

I’ll follow up with details on the contract as soon as I have them. I’ve previously Heard the contract negotiations weren’t focused on adding years to Leipold’s deal. They were centered around adding to his salary pool for assistants and NIL support. (You can help by supporting NIL here).

Kansas AD Travis Goff deserves massive credit for getting a deal done with a quality Big Ten school looking to poach the KU football coach.

As I’ve said before, if Leipold was going to stay at Kansas, he wanted assurances he could win at a high level. It appears he’s now gotten them.

Scoopsmafia member and certified KU football scooper “@PhoggyThoughts” on Twitter/X was first to the news. He tipped me off and then I was able to confirm through multiple sources elsewhere. Give Phoggy a follow!
