Major Hoops Recruiting News

Kansas is making a major run at 2024’s No. 1 recruit in Cooper Flagg, AND had three top-20 recruits in town this weekend. Things are getting serious. Here’s the latest:

Cooper Flagg | PF | #1 Overall Recruit for 2024 📈

  • Kansas is in this recruitment for real. Flagg is generally considered a Duke lean, but KU isn’t backing off. He’s the Jayhawks’ top target for 2024, and I’m Hearing genuine belief that they’re in this thing.

  • Flagg is a legitimate star and will bring extraordinary hype wherever he goes.

  • There’s thought that KU is a better fit from a basketball perspective for the PF. Bill Self is commanding serious respect here.

  • I view this recruitment as KU vs. Duke, and I think it’s a toss-up right now, which I wouldn’t have said two weeks ago. I’ll have more to come.

Dylan Harper | Wing | #2 Overall for 2024 📉

  • KU made a late run for the top prospect. There was buzz the Jayhawks were going to bring him in for a visit, but I think that’s unlikely as of now.

  • I’m not sure there’s a great roster fit here because…

Jalil Bethea | Wing | #20 Overall for 2024 📈 📈

  • Wing Jalil Bethea visited this weekend, and I’m Hearing it went really really well.

  • There’s hope the Jayhawks will get a commitment soon from the 2/3 guard, but it hasn’t happened yet. He’s got a series of visits scheduled for September, and he won’t be taking them if KU gets its way.

  • Bethea is the most likely Jayhawk from the group of visitors this weekend.

Derik Queen | Big | #7 Overall | Visited This Weekend

  • While I’m Hearing the visit went well with Queen, I still have a hard time seeing him commit to KU, considering Flory Bidunga’s commitment.

  • I’m sure the Jayhawks would like to bring in a second big man, but landing two in the top 10 is generally unlikely.

Liam McNeeley | Wing | #9 Overall | Visited this weekend

  • McNeeley is the wild card for me right now. I’m Hearing the visit went well, and I’m not willing to write him off for KU just yet.

  • The 6’7” shooter is visiting Indiana this week. The Hoosiers are currently the favorite to land him.

  • While KU has a chance still, I think it’s an uphill battle for the Jayhawks to land McNeeley.

Jalon Daniels Update 🤞

All signs right now point to Jalon Daniels playing Friday vs. Illinois. At least, KU certainly wants people to think he’s playing Friday. I’m Hearing it’s the case as of now.
