Allen Fieldhouse Turning Out the Lights 🔦

I’m Hearing pregame at Allen Fieldhouse is going to look a little different this year.

Kansas plans to turn out the lights and add some literal flash to its pregame introductions. The Jayhawks should be able to quickly turn their new lights on and off with a multi-colored effect to make player intros more of a light show.

I’m Hearing this should be in place for this season as long as they get the lighting work done this summer. If not, it should happen the next year.

The idea sounds similar to how big-time college football teams do light shows before kickoff.

Kansas hadn’t been able to do this before because the old lights take too long to warm up once they’re turned off.

I also Heard the idea of pyrotechnics was briefly kicked around, but it turns out that’s not a good idea with pieces of newspaper flying around.

I’m continuing to work on Allen Fieldhouse updates and will keep you posted as I learn more.

KU Hoops Recruiting Update 🏀

Yesterday I was able to share this update with VIP subscribers. I’m now comfortable enough with the scoop to share it more broadly, but I still wish I had a bit more info for you.

I’m Hearing the KU staff is still recruiting for this coming season to fill its final roster spot.

The latest word is that they’re focused on adding an international player rather than a grad transfer. I don’t have a name for you just yet, but I’m working on it.

My guess is that KU has someone in mind.
