New Transfer Portal Target for Kansas 🎯

There’s another new player on KU’s radar.

I’m Hearing the Jayhawks have contacted former Texas Tech wing Jaylon Tyson, and there appears to be some mutual interest between the parties. Tyson, a 6’7” skilled wing, makes a lot of sense as a potential fit for the Jayhawks.

I don’t know how serious the interest is, but I’ve Heard Kansas and Tyson quickly made contact. Tyson officially entered the portal earlier Monday after averaging 10.7 points and 6.1 rebounds in 28.9 minutes per game for Texas Tech as a sophomore.

While his numbers may not grab your attention, Tyson could immediately make a difference for the Jayhawks. I’ve been told Kansas wants to add a shooter this offseason, and Tyson shot 40.2% from three last year. This is a clear need for the Jayhawks, and the new portal entrant brings a high level of skill to whatever team he joins.

Tyson is a two-time transfer, but it’s believed he’ll get a waiver to play immediately after Texas Tech parted ways with Mark Adams this offseason. The four-star recruit from the Dallas area played just the first half of his freshman year at Texas before transferring to the Red Raiders. He’ll have two years to play.

For now, it appears Kansas has only three open scholarships. The Jayhawks are saving one spot for a big and another for a guard. They’d also love to also land a shooter with size on the wing.

Former Stanford wing Harrison Ingram has been a hot target for Kansas in the transfer portal. However, Ingram’s previously scheduled visit to Lawrence was pushed back to April 27, according to JayhawkSlant. It’s been reported that Ingram’s visit was moved due to his class schedule, but I’m skeptical of that reasoning.

Ingram is still considered the leader in KU’s pursuit on the wing, but I’m adding Tyson to the list of players to watch.

As always, I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for your support and for spreading the scoop.
