Hearings as NBA Decision Day Nears

Johnny Furphy and Jaxson Robinson have 24 hours to decide whether or not they’ll stay in the NBA Draft. The is what I’m Hearing as we approach the Wednesday, May 29 deadline:

  1. Johnny Furphy

  • I’m Hearing Furphy will likely stay in the NBA Draft. It’s expected that his time at Kansas is done.

  • It sounds like Furphy is getting positive feedback from NBA teams.

  • The latest ESPN mock draft has Furphy going No. 18 to the Magic and mentions him as a possibility as high as the No. 13 spot.

    • I don’t know if KU has been informed or that a final decision has been made. But I’ve Heard this expectation for a while now and continued to Hear chatter on Tuesday.

  1. Jaxson Robinson

  • As I’ve shared before, the BYU transfer wing is a top KU recruit.

  • I’m Hearing Robinson is expected to withdraw from the draft and return to college.

  • Robinson is also going through the NBA Draft process and has seriously considered staying in the draft as a likely second-round pick.

  • If Robinson returns to school, it’ll likely be a two-program race between Kansas and Kentucky.

    • Robinson’s old BYU coach Mark Pope is now with the Wildcats. And they can offer more of a solidified role than the Jayhawks.

    • I’d previously Heard KU would be in a good spot if Robinson returned to college. Candidly, that Hearing was from a while ago, so…

    • I’m working on getting more intel on the race between Kansas and Kentucky. My first objective was to find out early chatter regarding Robinson’s Draft decision.

Kansas-Duke Series Coming?

First, Kansas and Duke will play each other on November 26 this season in Las Vegas. You can see the announcement here.

Second, this appears to be the first of a few games between the two programs. I first shared the possibility of a home-and-home series in a Feb. 25 Hearing for VIP subscribers.

You can see the idea below from CBSSports’ Matt Norlander. I don’t believe these games are official yet, but it sounds like the two programs are trying to make it happen.

🏀 Kansas has also scheduled a home-and-home with NC State starting this season, per Matt Norlander.

⚾️ ESPN accidentally used a KU graphic to announce Kansas State making the NCAA baseball field of 64.

🏃‍♂️‍➡️ KU Track & Field is ranked No. 15 in the country with Nationals coming next week.
