The Latest on Memorial Stadium

Renovations for Kansas David Booth Memorial Stadium are inching closer toward reality, sources have indicated to The Hearings.

The fundraising journey is kicking into gear as top-level administrators have shared early renderings with KU's most prominent donors for the first time. There may have been multiple versions of renderings shared, but one has emerged as a clear favorite.

The proposed renovation has been described as an extensive and complete stadium redesign. There's a sense of optimism and excitement around the renderings as details trickle out.

I've heard chatter around using The Hill to enhance the stadium's social experience and multi-use capabilities. One example centers around an elevated bar on The Hill with a view of the stadium. Another proposal I've heard includes a video board facing the Hill. The idea would allow for concerts and Hill seating. I can't confirm these as finalized details, but they are the kinds of things being discussed.

What remains clear is the fundraising effort kicking off. My Hearings includes Doug Girod and Travis Goff traveling with the KU Endowment Head to southern Florida in a joint fundraising effort. This further solidifies a previous Hearing that The Chancellor, Athletics, and Endowment are working together on this project in a way KU has never seen before.

I'd assume KU will start to share the renderings more broadly with its next tier of donors soon. For now, it's been securing a vision with the top few contributors.

While these renderings aren't yet ready to be released to the public, the effort appears to be accelerating. We are getting closer to seeing the vision.

Kevin McCullar Ready to Go

McCullar gave the all-clear at practice on Wednesday, and I have no Hearings indicating otherwise. This is massive news for KU.
