Weโre Moving On
Iโm not even going to touch on Saturdayโs game vs. Gonzaga. No good is coming from breaking down what happened.
Weโre onto the transfer portal! Big changes are coming to KUโs roster. Here are some notes on what to expect.
The two players with a decision to make are Elmarko Jackson and Jamari McDowell. Iโd be surprised if Zach Clemence is on the roster next year.
The key word to remember this offseason is depth. The Jayhawks have vital core pieces that are likely to return. I think theyโll focus on adding experienced players who complement their returners.
Say it with me: We need depth.
I donโt expect any KU starter to transfer out (Harris, Adams). KUโs best teams consist of starters who have been in the program for multiple years. I thought this tweet summarized it well.
I know Adams said this after the game, but Iโm not putting much, if any, stock in it. I expect him back next year. Iโll keep you posted if something changes there.
Iโm watching for at least one guard, a wing, and a backup big man. Iโll explain each piece below.
The guard would likely be a shot creator and secondary ball handler. Bonus points if the player brings size. KU wants a guard who can help take the pressure of Dajuan Harris in more than one way.
The ideal wing is a Kevin McCullar type of two-way player. I think the Jayhawks have a clear target here (sharing in the VIP section).
I expect the Jayhawks to add a big man. KU canโt run back a roster with only two bigs. Thereโs too little room for error. The ideal player here would be a younger big with a few years to develop through the system.
Oklahoma State transfer Brandon Garrison fits the mold here. Iโm not sure if he lands at KU, but he visited out of high school, and makes a lot of sense.
Oklahoma is the current favorite to land Garrison. I think Garrison is a good idea for who KU is looking for.
Garrison was a McDonaldโs All-American one year ago. Watch his highlights here.

Underdog Fantasy Squad Ride! ๐
Iโm seeing it well, so Iโm sharing another 6x play with KUHearings sponsor, Underdog Fantasy.
I think Obaseki will have corner three looks, Langborg to create off screens, and Dennis to play aggressively off Clemsonโs sagging ball-screen defense.
Reminder: Youโll receive a 100% deposit match up to $100 if you use Promo Code โSCOOPโ to sign up!
