ESPN NFL Draft expert Matt Miller made it to Lawrence for KU’s game against Illinois and was kind enough to answer some questions about the Jayhawks.

I interacted with Matt a few times when we both worked at Bleacher Report, and he’s always been really generous with his time. Let’s get into it.

Q: Had you been to a football game at KU before? What was your impression on the scene Friday?

I hadn't been to a game since probably 2010 so it was fun to get back to Lawrence. The facilities looked great and you can tell there's some energy around the program that I don't remember being there in the past. I think overall there's enthusiasm and confidence that Leipold has brought to town.

Q: Is Jalon Daniels an NFL QB… or does he have scouts’ attention?

Yes and yes. It's too early to talk about where he'll be drafted and such, but he makes NFL plays consistently. What he does as an off-script quarterback is what scouts like to see. The key will be staying healthy and improving consistency in terms of ball placement. That'll get scouts more excited too.

Q: Daniels is a junior. Is his draft stock good enough where KU fans should start to expect him to leave after this season?

I wouldn't say he's good enough to warrant an early exit, at least based on what I've seen and heard, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he declared to get to the NFL earlier than later

Q: Does KU have any other obvious NFL guys?

Guard Dominick Puni is the top-ranked senior KU player and he is a mammoth in the run game. It was impossible to not notice RB Devin Neal even as an underclassman. He looks like a top 100 player from my initial evaluation.

Q: As for the overall team beyond NFL talk.. is Kansas… good?!

Kansas is good! Jalon makes the team tick, obviously, but the physicality the team plays with is really fun to watch. The run game is dangerous of course and Jalon does enough off-script in the passing game to worry even the more prominent Big 12 teams.

I hope it stays that way for the long haul…

As long as Leipold is there they have a shot.
