Kansas Lands Loyola-Chicago Transfer
The Jayhawks are on the board.
Loyal-Chicago transfer guard Jayden Dawson announced his commitment to play for the Jayhawks on Friday afternoon. The commitment marks the first transfer portal pickup for a Kansas team that returns zero scholarship minutes from last year.
Dawson was second-team All A-10 for Loyola-Chicago. The 6’4” averaged 13.9 points for the season and 16.2 points over his last 15 games.
During that same closing stretch of the year, Dawson shot 8.9 threes per game at 38.8% (82nd %ile). It’s a strong three-pointing shooting percentage at one of the highest volumes in the country.
One source complimented three traits about Dawson’s game: His shooting, his athleticism, and his character.
You can see the athleticism from the dunk below…😱

Kansas was quiet about its pursuit of Dawson through the portal period.
The Jayhawks now have ~8 open scholarships remaining. They need players they can trust to work hard with potential.
And it seems like Dawson is the type of mix they were looking for.

I really like Dawson's scoring package. Does nice work off dribble handoffs (which KU uses a bunch, obviously). Does a nice job relocating and has a quick release.
Also shot 52% on left corner 3s and 48% on right corner 3s, which he might be able to get off Peterson drives.

Jayden Dawson better go somewhere that runs a quality, team centric offense. I think he can be pretty good at a higher level in a similar role. But there are a lot of unsophisticated offenses where he’d be a disaster
