An Overdue Jersey Headed to the Rafters?

It’s about damn time.

During an Instagram Live, Thomas Robinson said his No. 0 jersey will head to the rafters on December 9 against Missouri this year. I’ve Heard KU has been trying to make this happen for a while but couldn’t get its schedule aligned with Robinson.

It sounds like they’ve made it work, and there’s no better timing than the Mizzou game for T-Rob. If you want to smile, just click here.

Robinson easily meets the requirements for KU. He was a unanimous All-American in 2012, the year he led KU to the National Title game. We won’t discuss the results of the game.

I expect this to be an emotional jersey ceremony for KU. Robinson lost his grandmother, grandfather, and mother all within three weeks while he was a student in Lawrence.

The KU community rallied around Robinson then, and I’m sure they’ll do it again for his return.

What I’m Watching for in Hawaii

  1. Supporting KJ Adams: KJ Adams’ mother, Yvonne Adams, died after a long battle with cancer. Adams made it home to Austin after the Champion’s Classic to be with his family on Friday. He was expected to travel to Honolulu but isn’t likely to play tonight against Chaminade, according to CJ Moore. I’ll be watching to see if KU fans have any official way to support Adams, and I will help get the message out via the newsletter here if so.

  2. Continue to find an identity: KU doesn’t have to win every game this week. I’ll be watching to see if the Jayhawks can continue developing a style of play that plays to their strengths. It seemed like a slower, half-court offense was its best move against Kentucky. I wonder if their tempo will be notably different during the games.

  3. Let the New Guys Get Comfortable: Looking at you, Elmarko Jackson, Johnny Furphy, Nick Timberlake, and Jamari McDowell. If one of these guys can get going this week, it’ll help take the stress off KU’s core players. I expect all of these guys to get some extended run, including McDowell.

Chaminade is 1-2 this season, with losses to Alaska Anchorage and Hawai’i Hilo.
