KU Closing in on 7-Foot Recruit? 👀🏀
😄😄😄
🔥 New Classic KU Coaches Jacket 🔥
It’s another banger from KUHearings partner Homefield Apparel.
The retro jacket matches the style from coaches in the 1960s and 70s. I love the look, especially with the block font KU football is bringing back right now.
It’s the perfect layer for fall Saturdays in Lawrence.

The Jayhawks might have their next big man
This year, it’ll be Hunter. Next year, it’ll be Flory.
And after that, it may just be Eric Reibe.
The Jayhawks hosted the No. 2 center in the 2025 class this weekend.
Following the visit, I’m Hearing this Reibe recruitment is looking really good for the Jayhawks. I believe KU is in the lead.
The skilled 7-footer out of Germany is ranked No. 34 in the country, according to On3Sports. ESPN recently moved him up to No. 25. Check out his recruiting profile here.
KU surging ahead for Reibe is a surprise. The Jayhawks weren’t considered a leader until this weekend. I was first told to keep an eye on him about two weeks ago.
Reibe cancelled his visits to Kentucky and North Carolina after his trip to KU. I’ve Heard Creighton is a top contender for Reibe, with Indiana, UConn, and Oregon also in the game.
I view Creighton and Indiana as the top competition, though he’s visiting UConn this weekend.
Reibe is a stretch big who is comfortable playing on the perimeter. He could play next to Flory Bidunga and not mess up spacing, if KU wanted to play big.
You’ll see what I mean in his highlights below.
Versatile 7-foot southpaw @eric_reibe has picked up offers from Florida State, Vanderbilt, Washington and Kentucky plus “high interest” from Connecticut, Duke and North Carolina since dominating the NBPA Top 100 Camp earlier this month (19.7 ppg.).

Three Standouts from KU-Lindenwood 🏈
First, If you’re going to the Illinois game, check out JTTailgates’ KU Football tailgate. This is going to be the ultimate KU tailgate on Saturday.
You’ll have a craft food menu, assorted beverages, games, and music from 12-6pm CT. I’ve heard great things from people who have gone to JT’s tailgates.
Onto the KU football talk.
Look, there’s not a ton we can take from KU’s season-opener. The Jayhawks did all you can reasonably ask for in their 48-3 season-opening win.
Still, here are three players who deserve some Week 1 love:
1) WR Luke Grimm
Grimm was KU’s top-graded offensive player in Week 1, per ProFootballFocus. They graded his performance as “elite” with a mark of 91.1.
Grimm was the most dominant Week 1 Jayhawk with 6 catches on 7 targets for 111 yards and a TD. The Reaper was back.

2) RT Logan Brown
The former Wisconsin transfer moved to right tackle late in fall camp and didn’t have any issues. He opened the season with a dominant run blocking performance.
Brown’s performance stood out with it being his first game back after a season-ending foot injury early last year. I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, but the showing was a positive sign for KU.
3) DB OJ Burroughs
Yes, Mello Dotson was also excellent. But Burroughs shined in KU’s debut.
His showing was graded as “elite” (91.2). He allowed just one reception off five targets and broke up three passes.
Look, we already know about Dotson and Cobee Bryant. If KU adds another big-time player in the secondary, it’ll go a long way in competing to win the Big 12.
🏀 KU’s top target in 2025, Darryn Peterson, announced his final four schools. You can see the announcement and list here.
🏀🏈 Travis Goff announced NIL donations will now count toward fans’ priority points with the athletic department. Goff said, “We need your help” in the letter. You can read it here.
🏈 The KU-Illinois game is a sellout. It’s Illinois’ first since 2016. You can see the announcement post here.
I love this stat and wanted to see if you knew it.
Q: Jalon Daniels has thrown 32 touchdowns as a Jayhawk.
He’s six away from tying No. 2 all-time.
Who would Daniels be tying with the second-most passing TDs in KU football history?
You can reply to this email if you know it or want to take a guess. I’ll share the answer in the next KUHearings newsletter (coming this week).
