🔥 Gear Up for KU Football Season with Homefield 🔥

KUHearings’ partner Homefield Apparel just dropped its new Platinum 2025 Football Box, which is the perfect set of gear to get ready for football season.

Along with the first-edition heavyweight hoodie, the Platinum box includes two exclusive designs:

  • The 1968 Big 8 Championship shirt. The design comes from the ticket to the actual game, which is so cool.

  • The Warhawk helmet + KU fight song long-sleeve T-shirt.

Homefield continues to deliver for KU fans. I love their gear, and their support has helped make KUHearings possible. Check out the new drop today!

David Booth’s $300M gift and new stadium details (capacity, parking, map, $808M price tag)

KU's $300M gift from David Booth comes with a master plan — and it's so much bigger than just building a stadium. KU Athletics, and the University, are now set to land its truly transformative opportunity ahead.

First, with Booth’s donation: KU announced $75M will go toward finishing Phase II of the stadium. And the remaining $225M appears set to help KU generate annual income for decades.

  • I’m Hearing this isn’t any kind of general fund for standard Athletics’ bill paying. The gift is set to go toward the long-term advancement of KU.

    • One major concern for any college athletics program going forward is the need to hit a revenue sharing ceiling every year (currently $20.5M) to pay players.

  • KU just secured a uniquely sustainable way to compete financially long after any stadium concrete dries. While other programs scramble to generate revenue every year, the Jayhawks have a head start compared to their peers.

Beyond the remarkably generous and game-changing donation, new details are continuing to take shape for the stadium.

On Tuesday, KU landed approval from the city of Lawrence for $94.6M in bonds to help with Gateway development.

The following is a combination of what I’m Hearing, reading in documents submitted to the city, and what you need to know:

  • The estimated project costs have increased to $808.7M, up from from the previous number $759M.

    • Here’s estimated the cost breakdown.

      KU’s proposal to Lawrence

  • Stadium capacity continues hit somewhere closer to 40,000 seats. Call it ~42,000, give or take.

    • I’m Hearing the stadium will be built to expand, if/when needed.

      • It’s hard to argue against the smaller capacity right now. KU hasn’t sold out its Week 0 game vs. Fresno State yet. You can get tickets here.

  • A parking garage is planned to sit underneath the Gateway development, with student housing, the hotel, and an entertainment plaza on top of the garage.

Labels from KU presented to the city of Lawrence

  • The Gateway Plaza is set to include

    • A 20,000 sq ft programmable event plaza (section C).

      • I’ve Heard this could fit or include a stage, if needed.

    • Apartment-style housing to fit 443 student beds.

    • 150 hotel rooms with 16 condos on top.

      • The hotel must be rated “upscale or higher.”

  • A new stadium map from KUAthletics showcases additional stadium details coming for KU fans.

New map shows food trucks on the south & north sides

    • The new, pedestrian-only and approved alcohol consumption zone on the north side of the stadium will be called the “Gameday Boulevard” with Boulevard Brewery sponsoring.

    • The map shows food trucks prior to the entrance on “The Hill,” along with an area sponsored by Modelo.

  • And lastly, here are the list of areas named after donors attached to the Gateway so far:

    • David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium

    • Anderson Family Football Facility

    • Garlinghouse Plaza

    • Horesji Ciciora Family Atrium

    • Paul and Linda DeBruce Jayhawk Club

    • Murfin Family Practice Fields

    • Slawson Limestone Club
