This one just makes too much sense.

Kansas landed a commitment from Parker Braun, the brother of former KU star Christian Braun. The addition adds critical front-court depth to the depleted Kansas roster.

I expect Braun, a 6’10” center to be on scholarship, as I’ve Heard he wasn’t willing to walk-on after starting nearly every game for Santa Clara the last two seasons. He averaged 7.7 pts and 5.8 rebs on 55.3% shooting as a senior.

Here’s how Braun graded out nationally last year via the advanced college basketball scouting tool “Synergy.”

  • 36th percentile, or “average,” in creating points on all offensive possessions.

  • 67th percentile, or “very good,” in transition offense.

  • 85th percentile, or “excellent,” in field goal attempts.

  • 92nd percentile, or “excellent,” in shots at the rim.

  • 80th percentile, or “very good,” in defense at the rim.

The numbers show he was effective around the rim last year, but struggled in other areas. All Kansas needs is a backup big who can be in the right position, protect the rim, and rebound. Braun should be able to accomplish that.

Simply, Braun is an easy choice for a KU staff that quickly needed veteran front-court players. Adding Braun allows them to focus their recruiting energy elsewhere, like adding a starting wing.

If Braun takes a scholarship as he intends, KU will now have 10 scholarships filled. It can add up to three additional players or start chipping away its self-imposed scholarship penalty (three over three years).

KU fans shouldn’t expect Braun to play like his brother. He’ll mostly take on a backup role for KU — and he definitely isn’t known for yelling “b*tch” on the court 😂.

State of the Kansas Roster

Here’s the rotation in its current state:

Not Quite Ready: Jamari McDowell, Chris Johnson,

PG: Dajuan Harris

Combo Guard: Elmarko Jackson, Arterio Morris, Nick Timberlake

Big Wings (4): KJ Adams, Marcus Adams

Center: Hunter Dickinson, Parker Braun

Yup, this is Scoopsmafia 😂
