Transfer Portal Hearings

• I think it’s important to start today’s newsletter with this: KU remains focused on Alabama transfer Rylan Griffen and Wisconsin transfer AJ Storr.

  • This can and will change quickly as things progress, but I think Griffen and Storr are the priorities right now.

  • Everything else is still early in the process.

• I expect Griffen to take his official visit to KU this weekend. You can watch the 6’5” wing’s highlights here.

• KU is in good shape with Storr as well as he feels out the NBA Draft process.

OK, onto the new Portal target

I’m Hearing Dayton transfer Koby Brea is the new player on KU’s radar. I believe the Jayhawks are seriously interested in the 6’6” wing.

• Here’s why: Brea shot 49.8% from three this season on 6.1 attempts per game. That’s 50% on 200 three-point attempts.

  • He shot more threes than Kevin McCullar and Dajuan Harris COMBINED this year.

  • He is literally the most efficient shooter in the country at his shooting volume.

• While I’ve Heard the Jayhawks are in the fight for Brea, they aren’t alone with this one. Both Kentucky and UConn are in the mix, along with a lot of other programs.

• If Johnny Furphy remains in the NBA Draft, the Jayhawks technically have three open roster spots. These things normally work themselves out (more speculative Hearings on that in the VIP section below).

• The Jayhawks are also working hard on a 5-star 2025 prospect. Hopefully more to come there soon.

• I’ll keep you posted as this one develops. It’s too early to know how Brea’s recruitment plays out.
