Mackenzie Mgbako Prediction 🔮

Mackenzie Mgbako is down to two.

The 5-star forward will decide between Kansas and Indiana, according to Andrew Slater. Mgbako was supposed to visit Louisville later this week, but it appears he canceled the trip. Instead, Mgbako is ready to make his decision.

My best guess as of Tuesday afternoon: I like where Kansas stands with Mgbako. I predict he’ll be a Jayhawk by the end of the week.

I wrote last Thursday that I’d guess Mgbako picks Kansas, and I still have no reason to change that hunch. For the record… If I keep making recruiting predictions, I’ll eventually get one wrong. But we’re gonna keep shooting here.

The 6’8” forward is ranked No. 8 in the country on 247Sports’ composite rankings. Mgbako is a three-point threat with length and could be the perfect complement to Hunter Dickinson down low. He’d allow the Jayhawks to field four perimeter players around Dickinson in the post, which is their ideal setup.

I’ve felt good about the Jayhawks landing Mgbako ever since his visit to KU. At one point, I was hearing he could commit earlier this week. Instead, Mgbako visited his other finalist in Indiana. Now he’s down to the two Adidas schools.

Kyle Cuffe’s decision to transfer stands out as the first major indicator that KU felt good about Mgbako. At the time, the Jayhawks needed to make sure they had space for both him and Hunter Dickinson. With Zuby Ejiofor’s transfer, the Jayhawks will have an additional roster spot they need to fill.
