Did Pro Money Just Swing Toward Kansas? 💰

The following is just my interpretation of the betting market. It is in no way betting advice or suggestions.

  • Opening Line: Kansas favored by 8.5 points

  • Current Line: Kansas favored by 8.5 points (as of 10:32am CT)

  • Betting Splits: 58% of bets on Kansas, 38% of money on Kansas (via VSiN).

The second the Kansas betting line opened on Sunday night, money started coming in on Samford to cover 8.5 points. It wasn’t the best sign for KU. The line quickly dropped to Kansas. The Jayhawks moved to 7.5-point favorites. Not bad, not great.

But at 8:40 am CT on Tuesday, there was a spike in money coming in on the Jayhawks (the middle column in the image below from VSiN).

The amount of money on KU moved from 36 to 38%

As far as I can tell, it looks like “pro money” moved the line back in KU’s favor. The movement is a fairly good sign for the Jayhawks. It could be related to health. It could be analytics. Or it could even be a pump fake by a pro bettor who will bet on Samford at the last minute (this does happen sometimes).

I’ll be watching closely to see if this holds. For now, it’s a promising indication for KU. I’ll take it.

NCAA Tourney Viewing Guide

This deserves its own section. Two days away!

🏀 Kansas has reached out to Pepperdine junior Michael Ajayi. You’re gonna want to read about the guard who averaged 17.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, and shot 47% from three this year… in his first season of DI Hoops.

🏀 PhD statistician and data scientist Evan Miya posted his 2024 Tournament probabilities here on Twitter. I also think the “Kill Shot” thread he posted was great info.

🏀 Our Scoopsmadness NIL Bracket challenge has raised $2,650 to support KU athletes so far! You can join in here.

🏀 I love this clip from the Could Be Wrong podcast. I talked myself and the group into why this is the perfect matchup for… Nick Timberlake 😂
