“Revealing A New KU” 🔥

Kansas brought in Kevin Harlan for video announcement and I thought the hype tape did the project justice. KU touched on everything you’d want to hear, and the visual elements back it up.

The stadium looks really nice. They did it. The future of KU football is here.

Embracing the KU Culture

One of the more impressive elements from the reveal was the acknowledgment of so many things KU fans take pride in.

The Lights Are Polarizing (I Like ‘Em)

A major element of the stadium appears to be the lights, and there was immediately a mixed reaction on Twitter. Made to look like golden waving wheat, the unique lighting across the top of the stadium through the convention center is going to light up the new “Gateway to Campus.”

I know it’s surprising for a lot of KU fans, but I think they’ll be cool once people see it in person.

The Cost 💰

KU Athletics says the initial fundraising goal is $300M. I’ve been Hearing this project will ultimately come in quite a bit higher than that. I think we’re looking at somewhere between $400-$500M when its finished.

Party Deck, Closing the Endzone, Video Board ✅

I’ve been writing about a possible party deck on top of Anderson Family Football Complex, and it appears to have landed in the final designs. I love bringing Anderson closer to the stadium.

KU is closing off the end zone and adding a patio/area to walk around during the game. They can really make this area a family-friendly area, accommodating for all types of fans.
