1)Who Stays and Who Goes? šŸ¤”

The hardest thing to predict about Kansas basketball is projecting who will return from this yearā€™s roster. Iā€™ve Heard the Jayhawks are anticipating adding two more players this offseason. They currently have space to add one additional player.

Just one week ago, I said Jamari McDowell and Zach Clemence are transfer candidates, which I donā€™t think is entirely right anymore. McDowell, Clemence, and Jackson are interested in returning next seasonā€¦ but I still donā€™t think all three will return.

My current guess is that one of those three transfer out,Ā but this is a moving target. New enter the portal daily, and the recruiting dead period ends Thursday at noon, so things are about to get busy again.

For example, I could see Jackson leaving if KU lands a big-time combo guard. Jackson and McDowell would face a major uphill battle for playing time in that scenario ā€” and I think the former McDonaldā€™s All-American guard is more likely to seek playing time elsewhere.

Transparently, Iā€™m not sure who stays and who goes. As soon as I think I know, I Hear something that makes me reconsider. Iā€™d rather wait until I get a clearer picture to share more predictions.

This is all subject to change rapidly as I Hear more.

2) What About Hunter Dickinson?

  • I continue to Hear that KU expects Dickinson back next season. He may get NBA feedback, but the staff is recruiting as if Dickinson is returning.

  • If you see a starter quality big man commit to KU, you can scrap the above Hearing. If a major center commits, itā€™s a sign Dickinson is likely gone.

  • Again, I donā€™t think thatā€™s likely. It looks like Dickinson will be back in Lawrence next year.

3) And What About Johnny Furphy

  • Furphy is another moving target. Heā€™ll almost certainly declare for the NBA Draft while maintaining college eligibility.

  • Iā€™ve Heard KU is recruiting as if Furphy wonā€™t be back next year, but this could also be the staff preparing for the worst while hoping for the best.

  • I think Furphy is still truly undecided. His decision will likely come down to his performance in NBA workouts. If he gets a promise in the teens, it starts to look shaky.

There are so many ā€œif, thenā€ scenarios to work through. As always, Iā€™ll keep you posted.

3 bullet points for KU fans!

šŸ€ The rape case against Arterio Morris was dismissed on Tuesday due to insufficient evidence.Ā He will reportedly enter the Portal.

ā›³ļø Youā€™ve gotta watch this. Gary Woodland hit a hole-in-one in The Mastersā€™ Par 3 Contest on Wednesday.

šŸ€ With Scott Drew being Kentuckyā€™s top choice to replace John Calipari, letā€™s remember the time the Baylor coach wished KU luck in the locker room after an NCAA Tourney gameā€¦ and Svi didnā€™t know who he was. šŸ˜‚
