TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER
The portal is a moving target where things can change fast.
This is what Iโm Hearing:
๐ Melvin Council | 6โ4โ guard | St. Bonaventure | 1 Year
Council just finished his visit to Kansas and remains a top priority for the Jayhawks.
Council is a long, athletic, guard known for his toughness. Heโll defend the best perimeter player on the floor for an entire game.
This is the kind of player you want on the court to help take some pressure off Darryn Peterson.
He averaged 37.1 mpg and played the full 40 minutes in St. Bonnieโs final four games.
Council shot just 29.9% from three, but thereโs some clear room for improvement (per Synergy..)
27% shooting off the dribble last year. These are shots heโs unlikely to take this season.
81% from the free throw line suggests strong enough fundamentals.
With less minutes and more set looks, thereโs reason to think his shooting numbers tick up a small bit.
๐ฎ PREDICTION: Heโs a Jayhawk
Check out his stats here. And watch the video below if you want to see why I think heโs a classic KU basketball player. ๐
๐ Xaivian Lee | 6โ4โ guard | Princeton | Rising Senior
The scoring guard visited Kansas late last week.
Heโs a highly-regarded portal wing, known for his offensive ability.
I think both KU and Lee took the visit as a โwhy not?โ
Lee has been considered a Florida lean for some time, and I think the Jayhawks had Council as their priority, too.
Florida was considered the leader prior to the visit, and Iโm Hearing the Gators still lead.
Outlook: Iโd be surprised if he ends up a Jayhawk.
Check out his stats here.
๐๐ Cedric Coward | 6โ6โ wing | Wash St. | Senior
Hereโs where things get interesting. Iโm Hearing the Jayhawks are going to make a run at Coward.
Heโs a big, physical wing who is also going through the NBA Draft process.
He only played 6 games for Washington St. due to a shoulder injury.
He averaged 17.7 pts and 7 rebs while shooting 40% from three.
Cowardโs a major target and fits a need for the Jayhawks as another perimeter scorer.
I think heโs worth a serious watch here.
Thereโs a real chance he stays in the NBA Draft, but if not, I think KU is in play.
Watch a 40 second highlight clip here.
๐ Paul Mbiya | 6โ11โ big | France
Iโm Hearing KU is taking a look at the long, Congolese big man. Heโs got a 7โ8โ wing span.
247Sports reported Mbiya is considering visiting NC State, Kansas State, and KU.
While I think thereโs some interest from KU, I think heโs unlikely as a fit.
Heโs pretty raw and the Jayhawks will need another big man they can rely on.
Watch his highlights here.
๐ Malik Ewin | 6โ11โ big | Florida St. | Rising Sr.
The Jayhawks explored the FSU big man, but I donโt think heโs coming to Kansas.
Heโd likely want more money and a bigger role than the Jayhawks can offer.
๐ Duke Brennan | 6โ10โ big | Grand Canyon | Rising Sr.
Brennan is similar to Ewin. Heโs not likely to be a Jayhawk and might be able to take advantage of a weak market for centers.
