👀 Hearing: No. 1 Player's Surprise KU Visit
Inside the unexpected Tyran Stokes visit + what I'm Hearing about his potential reclassification to 2025
🔥 Homefield Drops KU Baseball Collection Just in Time for Sold-Out Series 🔥
Kansas baseball is HOT – with their best start in 30 years and standard seats for this weekend's KU vs. K-State series sold out (standing room only offered).
It’s perfect timing for our partner Homefield Apparel to launch their first ever KU baseball collection:
1993 College World Series throwback pullover (check the back for a really nice touch)
Retro KU logo snapback hat
Premium canvas duffle bag (bundle option)
I can confidently say Homefield deliver the kind of gear that KU fans really want. It’s worth checking out.

2026’s (?) No. 1 player visiting KU 👀
The No. 1 player in next year’s (for now) recruiting class Tyran Stokes is in Lawrence for his visit today. It’s a significant development for Kansas, as the visit seemingly came out of nowhere with timing that’s at least worth digging into.
Note: KUHearings broke the news of Stokes’ visit ahead of national media who are often fed these kinds of scoops. It’s a cool moment for our independent site that doesn’t play the big recruiting reporter game. ✅
Why Stokes is Exciting for Kansas
Stokes fits an immediate need for the Jayhawks as a scoring wing
He’d likely play the four with three-man skills (the Jalen Wilson role)
He’s rumored to potentially reclassify to this year’s class
That means he’d join a team this coming season
And yeah, imagine Stokes joining 2025’s No. 1 recruit Darryn Peterson
(More thoughts on this below)
This video Stokes posted from KU is AWESOME. It is a must watch.
Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 player in the 2026 class, just shared this to his Instagram story.
He’s visiting #kubball this weekend.

The Reclassification Question
There's growing speculation about Stokes potentially reclassifying to 2025. Here's what we know:
Signs that feel like a reclass:
Not playing AAU basketball this summer
Taking visits during portal window when 2025 rosters are being built
Will be NBA Draft eligible in 2026
More visits likely coming soon
Why it’s not a sure thing:
By all accounts, Stokes’ camp maintains they’re planning to play college in 2026
I’ve Heard KU is recruiting him for 2026
And I believe this to be true, but it wouldn’t stop KU from recruiting for this year if he were to reclass
My take:
Yes, a reclass seems increasingly possible, but there’s still so much unknown here
Possible does not = sure thing
Even if Stokes does reclass, it doesn’t mean Kansas is the frontrunner.
Two big spenders in Louisville and BYU are involved as well.
We need to see how the visit goes before getting our hopes up
I’ll very much keep you posted. I’d think we get more info in the next week
The Bigger Picture for KU Recruiting
Kansas appears in play for the (limited) top-tier prospects
The staff's patient approach may be paying dividends
KU is in play for Wazzu wing Cedric Coward (I don’t think KU is the leader. More on this in VIP below)
Whether it’s Stokes, Coward, or someone we don’t know about just yet…
The Jayhawks appear willing to take a swing
