5 Portal Players to Know
Players marked with a red dot are transfers from this offseason (image via the Transfer Portal Guide)

Here are five quick hits on KU transfer portal players who should know before the season starts. There’s more on all of these guys in the portal guide.
WR Emmanuel Henderson, Bama Transfer
He’s probably as fast a receiver as KU has had, challenging and breaking sprint speed records in practice (held by the ol legend Jason Bean). The athleticism is there, the chatter has been good in camp, and a good year from Henderson will to a ton for this KU football offense.
WR Cam Pickett, Ball State Transfer
Pickett will take over the slot spot previously held by Luke Grimm. He had a breakout redshirt freshman year for Ball State and has more than held his own in practice for KU this offseason. He should be a red zone threat for KU’s offense with room to keep getting better and better.
DE Justice Finkley, Texas Transfer
Finkley has already emerged as a leader for KU football’s defense. He’ll be the strong-side DE for the Jayhawks, heading up a defensive line that may be KU’s best position group this year. Finkley had solid grades with a decent amount of snaps at Texas, but he wasn’t going to be the guy there. He’s got his chance in Lawrence.
DE Leroy Harris, Chattanooga Transfer
Harris has been the big surprise of the offseason. The FCS Freshman All-American apparently has the talent that translates to the Power Conference level. The sophomore has promising potential and was an unexpected boost to the KU D-Line this offseason.
LB Bangally Kamara, South Carolina Transfer
The LB group is one of the biggest true unknowns for KU football this year. Kamara has got the talent and experience to make a huge difference for the Jayhawks this year. But can he put it together on game day?
Honorable Mentions:
RB Leshon Williams: The Iowa transfer will play alongside Daniel Hishaw. He’s got the experience, with over 100 rush attempts in two seasons at Iowa. KU will need him.
OL Enrique Cruz: An experienced tackle coming in from Syracuse for an OL group that is an unknown for KU this year. The early chatter suggests the line should be decent to good.. cautious optimism. Cruz will play a big part of that.
TE Deshawn Hanika: The Iowa State transfer technically joined the team last year but couldn’t play due to injury. I’ve Heard good things about Hanika in a position that historically separates KU’s offense.

VIP🔒 Jalon Daniels and the Kansas QBs

🏈 Travis Goff posted a message to KU students. The sentiment is around creating a real home field advantage, while also acknowledging the student section isn’t updated yet (Wi-Fi issues, etc). It’s a good way of acknowledging that KU hasn’t forgotten about the students through the renovations.
