KU Trending Up for 2024 5-Star Liam McNeeley📈 👀
2024 5-star Liam McNeeley surprisingly decommitted from Indiana on Thursday afternoon. The Jayhawks were heavily involved in his recruitment on the first go around, and I’m Hearing that KU is the heavy favorite with McNeeley re-opening his recruitment.
McNeeley is a 6’7” wing and three-point specialist. He’s been described to me a strong fit for what Bill Self looks for with his wings (he guards, too).

While this isn’t a done deal (it never is in recruiting), I do think things look good for Kansas here. This would be a huge get for the Jayhawks for a couple of reasons:
Kansas needs shooting. Desperately. We all know that, and McNeeley would help the Jayhawks space the floor.
Frankly, this also speaks to the likelihood of Johnny Furphy going to the NBA with his Draft stock soaring. It’s harder to see KU landing McNeeley if Furphy returns next season (though it would be awesome).
At the same time, I’ve Heard there’s a solid chance Hunter Dickinson will return next year. If KU has both Dajuan Harris and Dickinson again, they’ll need to bring in A LOT of shooters.
If KU is bringing both players back… I’m thinking the Jayhawks are about to have a wild offseason.
And McNeely is a GREAT place to start.

3 bullet points for KU fans!
🏀 Advanced basketball analytics guru Evan Miya created a new metric, and KU ranks at the top high-ceiling, low floor-team in the country. This basically means KU plays better against good teams — which is a positive indicator for the Tournament. 😅🙏
🏈 KU’s star DB Cobee Bryant has launched a new podcast with an Instagram page for it. He’s trying to hit 1,000 followers — and says he’s giving away gear to five random people who follow the new page.
🏈 The Athletic wrote a great profile on Lance Leipold’s ascension in college football.
