🔥 Thank you — KUHearings Community Raises $1,606 for NIL at KU 🔥

A quick update before today's newsletter: The winners of the Bill Self signed basketballs have been notified. Congrats to Austin N. and Brady H.!!

Thanks to you, we sold 747 books before the deadline — meaning $1,606 has been committed to NIL at KU (I rounded up from $1,447 to $1606 in honor of #6 Jalon Daniels returning to KU).

Please contribute to NIL if you can! It will directly help KU get some players in the transfer portal.

For everyone who bought, shared, or reviewed "The Complete History of Every Kansas State National Championship": Thank you. The support means more than you know.

Now, onto today's news...

Anonymous NBA Scout on Bryson Tiller 👀

Bill Self confirmed an earlier Hearing that top 25 recruit Bryson Tiller will join the Jayhawks after this semester.

I first shared the possibility with VIP subscribers in November and said it was ‘very likely’ again on Saturday morning. (Get exclusive scoops by upgrading here).

The 6'10" forward out of Atlanta is ranked No. 20 by 247Sports. You can watch his highlights here.

Tiller will redshirt this year and practice with the team to get a head start on next season.

I spoke to an NBA Scout who shared his perspective on Bryson Tiller’s game. Thank you to the Scout for taking time out of his day for KU fans!

I’ve summarized his insights in the bullet points below ⬇️⬇️

The NBA Scout's Breakdown:

  • First, the physical tools that jump off the page:

    • Measured 6'10" with a 7'4" wingspan at OTE pro day

    • Scout's take: "Body chiseled by the basketball Gods... Body ready for the NBA right now"

    • Elite length for his position

  • Strengths:

    • "Really good rebounder for his position... uses length well and high-points the ball"

      • ‘high-points’ = jumps and gets the ball at its peak, rather than waiting for it to come down lower

    • "Double-double force when playing 10-feet and in"

    • "Plays physical and has no issues using his body to his advantage"

    • Strong in straight-line drives where he can leverage his strength

  • Areas to Improve:

    • Still developing a reliable midrange and perimeter game — current consistent range is 12-14 feet

    • "Doesn't bring much defensive versatility" but plays physical

    • Working to find balance between interior dominance and perimeter game

Why Early Arrival Matters:

I can’t overstate how important it is that Tiller will get a semester practicing against Hunter Dickinson, Flory Bidunga, and KJ Adams while learning Bill Self's system.

That's invaluable experience before his freshman season even starts. We know spending time with Self is critical for both player and coach to get comfortable with each other.

Plus, a redshirt semester gives him time to focus on those developmental areas — especially that shooting range the scout mentioned.

KU will need to replace both Dickinson and Adams next year.. but it won’t have to look far for its replacements — and that’s a really big deal for the future.
